Sarasota County Government is seeking a Program Ambassador to assist with outreach and engagement for the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR), or “Resilient SRQ,” a federally funded program assisting the unmet needs of the County following Hurricane Ian.
This position will work with applicants for the Housing Recovery Program, which includes housing rehabilitation, reconstruction, and reimbursement applicants for Resilient SRQ.
This is a unique opportunity for an individual who wants to make an impact in the community by assisting Sarasota County residents recover and repair their homes following the impacts of Hurricane Ian.
This grant-funded position is expected to last approximately five years.
Outreach and Engagement
Provide direct outreach and pre-screening to potential individuals in need of housing recovery assistance.
Demonstrate and maintain expertise in the program’s eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, policies, procedures, and electronic application submission.
Direct applicants to other local resources to obtain further disaster recovery assistance.
Identify and engage the target population within Sarasota County to build a rapport to better assist with the application process.
Direct Support
Provide direct in-person application assistance, collection of documentation, and review applications for completeness and accuracy.
Ensure the prompt and efficient resolution of each customer inquiry, providing exceptional customer service.
Provide referrals to additional community resources to assist in the rehabilitation or reconstruction of applicants’ homes.
E-Work/Hybrid Work: Currently this position is eligible to e-work up to 2 days per week! After you complete your first six months, contingent on work requirements and other factors, you’ll be eligible for this fantastic benefit.

About You
To thrive in this position, you must have-
High School Diploma or equivalent education
Preferred qualification-
One year of experience in a clerical or customer service environment; working knowledge of computer software dealing with public response.
About Everything Else
Starting Pay Range: $18.
00 - $19.
00 per hour based on experience.
