Position Summary:
The Driver is responsible for transporting Members safely to scheduled appointments, events, and other destinations for the Glenridge on Palmer Ranch (GPR).
The Driver assists GPR Members in obtaining the services they desire and directs them to appropriate resources as a situation requires.
The Driver works as a team participant along with the department staff to ensure quality transportation and customer service standards and expectations are met.
Responsibilities:
1.
Responsible for the timely and safe transporting of Members to various individual appointments and group activities.
2.
Keeps the vehicles clean.
3.
Safely drives GPR vehicles to destinations as assigned and in compliance with GPR policies and procedures as well as State and local regulations and laws governing driving.
4.
Inspects company vehicle for defects on a routine basis and reports any discrepancies as required.
5.
Safely maneuvers buses or other company vehicles in and around tight corners, through business areas and around high pedestrian traffic.
6.
Assists in organizing groups of Members for scheduled activities.
7.
Ensures all passengers use safety devices, such as seatbelts and wheelchair devices, and are secured safely during each trip.
8.
Maintains transportation records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
9.
Assists Members entering and exiting vehicles recognizing each person’s conditions and restrictions and using safe body mechanics and safety devices that may be required.
10.
Adjusts work schedule to facilitate activities and other duties as needed and demonstrates dependability.
11.
Demonstrates knowledge about equipment utilized regarding the community and the van, bus, or car.

Ensures working conditions are safe and safety rules are followed.

13.
Works closely with management and department staff in developing an integral team that effectively represents the quality and professionalism of GPR.
14.
Assists other staff members as needed.
15.
Attends in-service meetings to keep abreast of changes in health, safety regulations, employee policies and emergency procedures.
16.
Uses good judgment in determining needs of the company and in maintaining information delivery in conformance with recognized standards; and is expected to understand and follow all regulatory and facility policies.
17.
Keeps current on all changes in their area of responsibility, particularly regulatory changes as they relate to transportation, as assigned.
18.
Uses good judgment in determining the needs of Members and working with the different departments and in maintaining delivery of those needs in accordance with recognized standards; and is expected to understand and follow all regulatory and facility policies.
19.
Maintains confidentiality of Members’ PHI (Protected Health Information).
20.
Other various duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1.
Must have at least a High School Diploma or equivalent.
At least six (6) months of training or proven related experience as a driver.
2.
A valid Florida Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is preferred; (P) endorsement
3.
Must be CPR certified.
4.
Good driving record with no moving violations in the past three (3) years.
5.
Must be able to read and interpret map instructions.
6.
Proficiency in understanding of computer software as it relates to the job.
7.
Excellent decision-making and analytical skills.
8.
Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills.
9.
Must be empathetic, enthusiastic and have an affinity for working with a diverse senior population.
10.
Must be well organized and can work with limited direction, take initiative, and can plan and carry out responsibilities, organizing own schedule and duties to complete responsibilities.
