Are you known for your customer service skills, an ability to take directions, and prioritize tasks? Our Libraries and Historical Resources department is in need of a flexible and adaptable Mail Courier, capable of assessing which tasks are of most importance and eliminating distractions.
In this role you will drive the library courier truck to pick up and deliver books and/or media to designated locations.
The ideal candidate will have prior work experience operating a moderately heavy van/truck with a lift gate and is familiar with outlook, electronic filing systems, copiers, printers, and phones.

About the Position
In this role you will:
Deliver or pick up book bins and mail from Library and Historical Resources locations across the county, both promptly and efficiently.
Provide exceptional customer service when interacting and communicating with our library staff and other county employees.
Operate a County truck with a lift gate, following a proscribed route, as directed by your supervisor.
Maintain awareness of vehicle servicing needs and coordinate with our Fleet department for routine and sporadic maintenance or repair needs.
Use sound judgement when dealing with vehicle repairs and/or operational concerns.
Perform routine Technical Service duties as needed, when the courier truck is being serviced, or when the route is completed early.
Work Hours:
Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

About You
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED.
One year of related professional experience, i.
e.
clerical, secretarial, and/or computer related work.
-OR- One year of advanced schooling may substitute for the one year of work experience.
Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of delivery route and service practices.
Prior experience driving a moderately heavy van/truck with lift gate.
Prior work experience that required lifting and/or using hand trucks, or dollies, to move heavy boxes.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.
An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
Physical Demands: May occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds, with assistance.
