Bus Driver - Sarasota

Bus Driver - Full Time Sarasota Reports to: Director of Nursing, Administrator MAJOR FUNCTION Skilled work in the operation of light buses and/or vans in transporting clients to and from contracted vendor and pre-determined designated location.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Complete Training program within 30 days of employment: Hands on Training with Driver Online Training Course Transports clients to and from the contracted vendor and designated location, following a pre-planned route according to a definite time schedule; communicating in harmony with parents and staff.
Drives bus cautiously and in compliance with traffic regulations.
Assumes responsibility for the safety of all passengers in loading, unloading and transporting them to and from pre-determined designated location and the contracted vendor.
Is knowledgeable of Passenger Assistance guidelines and passenger restraint procedures.
Operate manual and remote controlled wheelchair lifts.
Regulates heating equipment and ventilation of bus for comfort of passengers.
Works with medical personnel assigned to route to maintain discipline and cooperation of passengers.
Logs mechanical inspection (lights, tires, etc.
) and cleanliness of vehicle on daily trip sheet; documenting findings or concerns.
Checks water, gas, oil, and mechanical condition of the bus weekly.
Reports delays and accidents immediately.
Reports defects or problems with vehicle to Director of Transportation immediately.
Keeps operational records and makes simple reports.
Assures bus meets regular maintenance schedules.
Performs related work as required, such as vehicle cleaning as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledgeable, Abilities, and Skills: Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations, and of precautions necessary to avoid accidents.
Ability to operate a bus/van in a safe and economical manner.
Ability to operate wheelchair lift and knowledge of disabled passenger restraint.
Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to perform work requiring good physical condition.
Ability to work in harmony with children, parents, and contracted vendor personnel.

Ability to complete various forms and records, including updated route sheets, time sheets, field trip forms, incident and accident reports, etc.
Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or completion of GED Licenses or Certifications: CPR Certification Current Valid State Driver’s License.
Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
Must be able to pass a DOT physical
