New College invites applications for the position of Financial Aid Coordinator.
The Financial Aid Recruiter reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid.
Specific responsibilities include:
Responding to questions from both current and prospective students and their families about the types of financial aid available, initial eligibility requirements, how to access New College of Florida’s electronic systems and learning about the verification process.
Reviewing and making decisions on Federal Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) transactions that come in electronically on a daily basis once a student submits a Free Application.
Assisting students and families with financial aid packages and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
Clearing Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) records from suspense due to discrepancies.
Awarding institutional scholarships to admitted students, transfer students and international students in the Admissions database and ensuring that scholarship assignments match financial aid offer letters.
Reviewing all forms and supporting documents submitted by students and parents for the financial aid verification process to ensure that the correct information has been provided and that the forms are completed as required before logging them into the College’s system of record.
Assisting with Pell outreach to target populations (e.
g.
Pell-eligible prospective and current students) in support of the College’s mission.
Collaborating with the Director and Associate Director of Financial Aid to maintain financial aid paper records in compliance with state and federal records retention requirements.
With the transition to document imaging, maintaining primary responsibility for the maintenance and monitoring of financial aid records in an electronic format.
The Coordinator interprets and complies with FERPA.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
Excellent problem-solving, customer service, communication and organizational skills.
The candidate will have excellent attention to detail and experience with and an understanding of automated systems and analytical and reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education; expertise with Excel, knowledge of the Banner Student Financial Aid module, reporting tools, document imaging, electronic forms and Slate or other Customer Relation Management systems.
