Individual must have lived recovery experience for a minimum of 2 years, with at least 1 years’ experience working with adults with substance abuse disorders.
"Working" may include volunteer hours or experience as a Sponsor in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
Valid Florida Driver’s License with safe driving record and current auto insurance is required.
Preferred Qualification: Currently a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) in the state of Florida.
If candidate is not a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) upon hire, it is required they achieve their Certification within the first year of employment.
Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of individuals with co-occurring issues, their families, and family systems.
Knowledge of community resources or ability to learn quickly as well as good organizational, time management and communication skills.
Willingness to work on a comprehensive treatment team where excellent communication, high motivation, self-direction, and willingness to do whatever it takes occur at all times.
Flexibility to work a variety of hours, including some evenings and on-call rotation to meet the needs of persons served.
Essential Functions/Job Duties: Develop therapeutic rapport with clients and demonstrate a recovery oriented approach.
Provides supportive services (individual, family and group) to develop daily living and coping skills.
Assist clients with developing natural support systems.
Assume primary responsibility for assessing client and family strengths, challenges and needs of an assigned group of clients.
Demonstrate knowledge of community resources to assist individuals in accessing and learning about related community resources and ancillary services.
Refers, advocates and links client and family for additional services as identified.
Act as liaison and collaborates with community agencies/institutions and support systems to maintain coordination of the treatment process.
Other Related Duties – Peer reviews, consultation, treatment team meetings, adhere to departmental and agency policies, procedure, and processes, state reporting, etc.
Maintain or Obtain (within one year) Florida Certified Peer Specialist certification and adhere to all training, ethics and appropriate boundaries noted therein.
Work Environment/Physical Demands: This position operates in a professional office environment and spends time in outpatient behavioral health and addiction treatment settings within the community.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
Ability to sit, use hands and fingers, talk or hear, and smell continually.
Ability to stand, walk and reach frequently.
Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally.
Position Type, Expected Hours of Work and Travel: This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday - general business hours of 8:00-5:00 with ability for flexible hours.
Work Environment/Physical Demands: Moderate noise levels as found in a business office with computer & printers.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
Ability to sit, use hands and fingers, talk or hear, and smell continually.
Ability to stand, walk and reach frequently.
