Community & Veterans Services consist of the following Division/Sections: Adult Services, Aging & Eligibility, Animal Welfare, Children Services, Community Development, Criminal Justice Coordination, Library Services, Neighborhood Connections, Probation Services, and Veterans Services and Animal Care.
We provide support that fill the gaps in Manatee County residents’ lives to help them remain employed or become reemployed, stay in school, rehabilitate, gain new skills, or make ends meet.
We facilitate, partner with non-profit agencies, communities, and organizations and oversee human services that fulfill a wide range of needs.
As an Animal Care Specialist I – Vet Assistant - you will reside in our busy medical department.
Some daily responsibilities include cleaning and feeding pets that are under medical supervision.
You will be providing medications to the pets under medical care.
Other easily duties could include cleaning medical supplies, assisting with exams and surgery.
Also provide assistance to the intake coordinator with intake vaccinations on all incoming animals.

Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Required Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent
Strong desire to work with animals.
Valid driver license required, with valid Florida driver license required within 30 days of hire.
Desired Skills
Previous work or volunteer experience with an animal shelter or similar organization desired.
Previous customer service experience desired.
