Azul is now opening a private cosmetic surgery center in Fort Myers and is looking for an experienced and passionate team member to join the surgical team in Lakewood Ranch and the new state-of-the-art facility in Fort Myers.
The ideal candidate for the Surgical Technician position is highly motivated with a passion for the beauty and wellness industry and ready to serve as a brand ambassador for Azul.
Essential functions are included but not limited to:
Serves as scrub tech for basic to complex surgical procedures including but not limited to fat grafting purification, rhinoplasty, breast procedures and body contouring.
Anticipates surgeon’s needs and assists surgeon by draping patients, holding/passing instruments, retractors, sutures, and medications, applying surgical dressings, suctioning, and sponging surgical wounds, holding extremities, and moving patients.
Assures adequate number of appropriate supplies and instrumentation are available in accordance with surgeon’s preference and counts all instruments, needles, and sponges with registered nurse according to procedure.
Inspects instruments and power equipment prior to use to assure operational order and troubleshoots, reports, and removes faulty instrument and equipment from service.
Inventories and monitors instruments, sponges and needles on operative field using department count procedures.
Follows department procedures for scrub techs by assembling surgical packs, supplies and instruments for surgical cases and preparing operating room for surgery.
Assists in identification, labeling and proper specimen disposition using departmental procedures.
Performs or assists in sterile preps as needed/requested by monitoring aseptic techniques of surgical team members at field, reporting and correcting breaks in sterile technique immediately, and controlling location of contaminated instruments and supplies.
Maintains appropriate quantities of surgical supplies and equipment by restocking room with necessary equipment and supplies and apprises supervisor of special requests for surgical supplies and equipment.
Assists with decontamination of all equipment, instruments, and supplies as necessary and assists with cleaning rooms, furniture, and equipment according to established procedures.
Clinical duties include but are not limited to: rooming patients, assisting with medical examinations and updating and documenting patient medical records.
Education & Requirements:
Graduate from an accredited surgical technician program or two (2) years’ experience in an OR setting.
Medical assistant with proven two (2)+ years’ experience in an outpatient surgical setting.
Current BLS certification.
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires prolonged, frequent standing, sitting, and walking.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires hearing, vision, and manual dexterity to operate anesthesia equipment, ventilator, regulators, gas cylinders, pulse-oximeter, EKG-monitor, defibrillator, irrigation equipment, intra-venous equipment and supplies, stethoscope.
Requires exposure to communicable diseases, blood, or body fluids.
