Job Summary:
The Mechatronics Engineer is responsible for selecting, designing, developing, applying, and maintaining sensors, solenoid actuators, and drivers/controllers for hydraulic valves and systems.
They will also support the development hydro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic cartridge valves.
New Product Development team to determine technical, economical, and safety feasibility.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Develop new sensors and drivers/controllers for hydraulic cartridge valves
Oversee upgrades to driver/controller software
Research new electrical actuators for hydraulic applications
Support and maintain solenoid tube and coil lines
Submit and carry out Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) effective and efficiently
Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing engineering, and operations teams for:
Design for Manufacturing, Cost, Assembly
First Pass Yield (FPY) Improvements
Work with customers, distributors, integrators, etc.
to answer technical questions
Drive the project management of new releases from initial conception to final through to production release
Prepare and deliver presentations at reviews and meetings
Required Skills/Abilities:
Hands-on capability to carry through the complete project from conception to final sign-off by the customer
Ability to read and interpret blueprint documents
Proficiency with CAD/3-D modeling software
Familiarity with magnetic, CFD, and FEA simulation theory
Circuit breadboarding, soldering, wiring, etc.
Ability to coordinate and communicate tasks across a wide range of cross-functional teams
Ability to identify and seek needed information/Research skills
Analytical thinking skills
Oral and written communication skills
Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
)
Education and Experience:
B.
S.
degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred
Experience with simulation tools (Magnetic, FEA, CFD, 1-D, etc.
) preferred
Familiarity with state-of-the-art sensor technologies for measuring pressure, flow, position, and rotation
Application of communication protocols and chipsets (WiFi, Bluetooth, CAN, J1939, etc.
)
Thorough understanding of materials, linear and nonlinear behavior of materials, fatigue, and corrosion
Understanding of GD&T standards and best practices
Understanding of 6 Sigma principles
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
Ability to lift 35 pounds at times
