The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating several types of machines and creating production tools to specification from blueprints and part drawings.
This position is obligated to follow the ISO 9001:2015 standard to ensure compliance within their scope of work.
*Job Duties*
· Operate multiple types of production machinery including the following:
*Lathe* *–* Basic operation; Planning sequence of operations; speeds and feeds; Use of a 4-jaw chuck; face plate; Boring Bar and screw; chucks w/ mandrels; making soft jaws; cutting threads; use of knurling tool; Taper and Radius cutters, Polishing dies w/ Diamond Paste, do-all grinding attachments and PM’s.
*Bridgeport Milling –* Basic operation; Tramming the Table; Speeds/Feeds; Tool Selection; Squaring Blocks; Part Layout; Clamping Techniques; Indicating Vise; Boring Tools; Indexing Head; Jig Boring and PM’s.
*Surface Grinder -* Setting Radius Dresser; Offset grinding; Diamond Cut Grinding; Diamond Wheel; Angle Dresser; Harig Grind-all; Grinding and Cut-Off Wheel Selection; Sharpening Punches and Dies; Demagnetizing; Flat Grinding; Sine Plate and PM’s.
*OD/ID Grinder –* Wheel Selection; Basic Set-up for OD/ID Grinding; Taper Grinding; Coolant use and PM’s.
*Cut off Saw*
*Band Saw*
· *Heat Treatment-* Air and Oil Hardening, Tempering, Case and Flame Hardening
· *Measuring Devices* – Micrometers, Telescopic Gages, Calipers/Veneers and Dial Indicators, Rockwell Hardness Tester, Optical Comparator and Silver Solder Brazing.
· *Other Skills *include but not limited to *–* Process Planning, Sharpening Drills, Endmills, Tapping, Extracting broken taps and screws, Tool Steel Selection, Alloy identification, Basic knowledge and use of Oxy/Acetylene Torch.
· Contribute to team effort by performing additional tasks and accomplishing related results as needed.
*Qualifications*
· High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
· Some Machining experience preferred
· On the Job (OJT) training provided
· Excellent organizational and leaderships skills with attention to detail
· Outstanding communication ability, proficient in English
· Experience in reporting and using key production metrics
