Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operator assists the Traffic Systems Engineer by performing various monitoring, reporting and information disseminating tasks related to the TMC coverage area roadway traffic, incidents, special events and weather-related emergencies.
The TMC operator with the help of various specialized software programs, connects to Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) devices such as Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, Microwave Vehicle Detection Systems (MVDS), Arterial Dynamic Message Signs (ADMS), Bluetooth Travel Time Devices, traffic signal controllers, school-zone flashers, ethernet switches and other related communication devices to monitor the status of traffic on the area roadways, traffic signals, school zone flashers, vehicular detection systems and communication devices connecting all ATMS infrastructure to the Center.
Assists with traffic data collection and reporting to include weekly and monthly scheduled reports on performance of detection systems, traffic signals, ATMS devices and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) maintenance functions.
Disseminate information related to all traffic incidents and special events and provide any other related reports that are requested.
Coordinates with internal maintenance staff, and external regional operations staff with regards to obtaining a full understanding of all control room activity status.
Performs other related tasks to support emergency operations during extreme weather events.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Skills
High school graduate/equivalent.
Level I, IMSA and/or ATSSA Signal Certification(s) within one (1) year of hire date.
Valid driver's license with valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.
Desired Skills
Technical experience in the areas of traffic, communications, computers, or electronics desired.
Knowledge/familiarity with electrical systems.
Knowledge of the operation of hand and power tools required in assigned work.
Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Ability to become familiar with state and local regulations and the manual on traffic signal installations as required by assigned work.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, co-workers, supervisor, and outside agencies.
Ability to perform manual tasks as required for area of assignment.
Skill in basic computer operations such as spreadsheets and word processors is required.
