Manatee County Public Works Department provides many of the basic services that affect the daily lives of everyone who lives, works, and plays in unincorporated Manatee County.
Primarily, the department is responsible for the administration, planning, engineering, maintenance, and construction management of the County's infrastructure.
Manatee County Traffic Engineering Division provides for the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, goods, pedestrians, and cyclists on our roads through the use of traffic control devices, data, and Advance Traffic Management System (ATMS) infrastructure.
A Traffic Engineering Division Project Manager/Engineer (DOQ) (Traffic Design & Safety Engineering) performs various tasks related to traffic design, operations, and safety.
Typical tasks will involve performing field reviews, data collection and analysis to provide recommendations to improve safety and mobility for all road users.
Produce construction plans and review traffic design plans (such as traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, and Intelligent Transportation Systems).
Performing traffic operations and safety reviews to implement low-cost safety and operational improvements at intersections and along corridors.

Minimum Qualifications
Required All Levels
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field.
Current Florida Professional Engineer (P.
E.
) License required for Project Engineer positions.
(Out-of-state P.
E.
licenses must be transferred to Florida within 1 year of hire date).
Individuals without P.
E.
licenses will be assigned to the Project Manager job title.
Valid driver license required, with valid Florida driver license required within 30 days of hire.
Required Skills
Project Manager
5 or more years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, design, and/or construction of public and/or private infrastructure/building/site development projects.
CAD (AutoCad or equivalent) experience desired.
Project Engineer I
4 or more years of engineering experience related to area of assignment to include progressively responsible experience in the planning, design, and/or construction of public and/or private infrastructure/building/site development projects.
Prior experience as Engineer of Record desired.
Project Engineer II
5 or more years of engineering experience related to area of assignment to include progressively responsible experience in the planning, design, and/or construction of public and/or private infrastructure/building/site development projects.
One or more years as Engineer of Record.
Sr Project Engineer
6 or more years of engineering experience related to area of assignment to include progressively responsible experience in the planning, design, and/or construction of public and/or private infrastructure/building/site development projects.
One or more years as Engineer of Record.
Previous lead or supervisory experience desired
