Description The Mechanical Engineering division at IFS collaborates with teams inside IFS to develop innovative solutions that advances product lines through enhanced controls, safety, and efficiency.
The Mechanical Engineer develops new and existing equipment designs through innovation, peer review, and best practices in engineering.
As a project engineer, the Mechanical Engineer will oversee the product development timeline and review change requests from customer service, manufacturing, and sales.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for sustaining existing product lines Contribute to research and development of new products Work closely with third-party vendors while building prototypes for testing Work closely across internal departments providing value-added solutions for our customers Performing calculations for energy analysis, fluid flow, velocity, and others as required Conduct FMECA and FEA reviews Determine project specifications by studying design requirements, and performance standards Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities Work closely with shop managers, quality, engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing personnel to solve problems and drive continuous improvement Review drawing packages and verify manufacturing process can meet the tolerances required by customers Effectively manage the project planning process to ensure all materials, products, services, and information are available to fabricate parts Work with Inventor and Vault while working on projects Requirements: Mechanical Engineer III – Liquid Filling, Capping and Labeling Design, Complete Automated Liquid Packaging Systems Job Summary: Mechanical Engineer performs equipment concept evaluation, design and construction details through the use of Autocad and Inventor software.
Designs are evaluated based on practical company experience and standard machines that are modified for specific customer needs as related to changes in product, containers, caps, labels, speed requirements and plant layouts.
Engineer is expected to be able to critically evaluate applications to ensure a robust design suitable for industrial application and to meet customer requirements.
The various designs incorporate electro-mechanical and pneumatic components for operation.
Evaluation is completed via software and operation of machinery with observation and testing.
Fast paced, team oriented facility requires the ability to work with Sales staff, Controls Engineers, machinists, assembly personnel, testing and installation technicians in resolving issues during the design, build, test and install process to attain customer satisfaction.
Duties/Responsibilities: · Evaluate machine designs for possible safety issues and resolve with recommendations for designs of appropriate protective devices.
· Collaborate with Production and Management to solve problems, make machinery improvements and assist with Sales and Marketing effort.
· Assist Technical Writer and Customer Service to provide operator information and problem solutions.
· Maintain professional appearance, conduct, and attitude and positively promote IFS business activities to all customers and team members.
· Work independently under limited supervision (self-management) to accomplish IFS goals while following all IFS policies, practices, and procedures.
· Acquire specific experience and knowledge with a range of liquid filling methodologies, cap application and torqueing, label application and kinematics inherent in a bottling production line.
· Provide servo and robotic applications familiarity for new production initiatives.
· Utilize engineering skills for critical technical evaluation to learn/understand new concepts and integrate them into a functional finished product.
Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software (AutoCAD 2018 & Inventor 2022).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required.
Five years of related experience required.
Experience with pneumatic and servo motion required.
Experience in fluid dynamics preferred.
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
Must be able to access and inspect all areas of machinery.
