What is a water reclamation facility (WRF)? The purpose of a WRF is to receive raw wastewater through a series of pumps and pipes and treat that water through a biological process until it has reached pristine treatment.
At the WRF the staff treat the wastewater and produce an effluent that can be applied for irrigation.
You may see irrigation water on golf courses, parks, and even for residential yards.
Though this water is not fit to drink, it is safe for irrigation.
Manatee County has five (5) permitted facilities; three (3) water reclamation facilities (WRF), the Manatee County Master Reuse System (MCMRS) and a Biosolids Facility.
The MCMRS handles the reclaimed water permitted flow from the three WRF with a flow of 33.
5 million gallons per day.
The Biosolids Facility is a 200 Wet Ton Per Day Facility producing high quality Class “AA” fertilizer.
The Biosolid Facility uses Landfill Methane Gas as the heat source to produce the fertilizer.
