Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for supporting the Supply Chain Team by executing Quality, Delivery, Technical and Sustainability assessments at Supplier locations to determine capability as well as support Supplier sourcing selection.
Position will drive supplier process and systemic improvements using Lean and Six Sigma tools.
The role is also responsible for effective execution of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) disciplines.
Individual will work with Suppliers, Procurement, Engineering, Plant Quality, Operations and the Supplier Sustainability team.
Participate in establishing strategic and comprehensive activities that will support the business and customer expectations.
Duties/Responsibilities: Conducts Quality, Delivery, Technical, EHS and Sustainability assessments, in support of new sourcing, to determine if a supplier’s quality systems, delivery capability, technical competency and environmental policies meet business expectations.
Leads initial Supplier orientation, provides on-boarding training as required.
Project management for all new outsourced parts, new supplier onboarding and improvement of existing supplier improvements.
Active participant of SBU Sourcing and Category team providing the quality detail required to support source selection and rationalization.
Provides Supplier with technical oversight and expertise in areas such as Process Development, PFMEA, Measurement Systems, Control Plans and Error Proofing.
Leads APQP reviews with Suppliers which include Design Specification, Pass Thru identification, Safe Launch Control, Launch Readiness and Run @ Rate.
Drives on-time PPAP and Flawless Launch for responsible components.
Drives process and systemic quality improvements, at assigned supplier sites, through the use of (SIP, SPC, Lean, Six Sigma).
Also, validates improvements through defined metrics to reduce quality non-conformances and improved PPM.
Acts as a subject matter expert, working in conjunction with Plant SQE and Suppliers in 8D problem solving - leading cross-functional teams on major issues resolution at Supplier locations.
Performs advanced analysis (Category, Quality Systems, DPPM) to determine trends along with proposed actions to drive performance improvement.
Leads training of internal staff along with other functions on Supplier Development governance strategy, policy, procedures and work instructions.
Prepares, distributes and communicates periodic Supplier performance status and risk assessments to regional leadership as required.
Manages the Supply Chain Help Desk process that allows user to submit request for products, suppliers, quotes or services.
Actively deploys IR’s defined Supplier Development Procedures, Processes and work instructions within the region.
May lead process and procedures review along with continuous improvement actions.
Required Skills/Abilities: Technical degree in engineering discipline or equivalent work experience Knowledge about the manufacturing processes across variety of categories 3-5 years’ experience using quality and problem-solving tools/methodologies Knowledge of Industry specific quality registration (ISO/TS16949 - IATF) Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the company Ability to work cross-functionally Supply Chain or Purchasing background a plus Speaks English as a primary/secondary language Demonstrated Quality Role Profile Competencies Demonstrated quality/process expertise Problem Solving / Continuous Improvement Leadership Analytical/Statistical Tools and Methods Inspection and Testing Ability to travel up to 20% Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field andfour years of related experience and/or training in manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience in supplier quality engineering Physical Requirements: The characteristics listed below are representative of the physical demands required by an individual to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.
