Job Description THE SCHOOL BOARD OF MANATEE COUNTY Local Title: SUPERVISOR, DATA CENTER SERVICES State Title: Supervisor, Administrative Technology JOB DESCRIPTION JOB GOAL: To implement, configure, and support all district level servers (virtual and physical), data storage and data backup systems.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in Computer Science or a related field.
Equivalent experience in administration, leadership, and supervision can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Minimum five (5) years of experience with server infrastructure, storage area networks, SAN switches, virtualization, and Enterprise Backup Systems.
Minimum five (5) years of Experience with Microsoft server Operating System (OS) platforms.
Minimum of two (2) years of successful experience in supervising personnel.
Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in managing projects in an enterprise environment.
Life experience, industry knowledge, training, certification and other education may be considered as a replacement for minimum qualifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to successfully assess and apply best practices and/or current technologies to enhance the attainment of the District’s educational and technological objectives.

Ability to work in a participative, collaborative manner with School employees, Administrative employees and external partners as appropriate in the development, support and implementation of technologies.

Ability to accomplish DCS staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
REPORTS TO: Director, Infrastructure Services SUPERVISES: Data Center Support Engineers Data Center Support Specialists Other staff as assigned PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Implement, configure, and support all district level servers virtual and physical, data storage on SANs, and data backup systems at all District Administration Sites and the County Disaster Recovery Site.
Perform all firmware upgrades on all district level blade servers, blade enclosures, iLO, Onboard Administrators, virtual connects, hard drives and controllers.
Oversee the periodic maintenance and supports on the Enterprise Data Backup systems by the DCO Engineer.
Plan and manage the support of new technologies, data center performance and reliability.
Present all recommendations to the Infrastructure Services Director for approval and review.
Monitor all district level blade servers, virtual servers, and SANs and VMWare.
Utilize strategic planning tools to provide long term plans to the Infrastructure Services Director for both hardware and software requirements for the Data Center.
Perform maintenance on all blade server hardware, server operating systems, and network connectivity on all district level servers.
Document procedures for installations and upgrades for all district level blade servers, SANs, and Enterprise Backup Systems.
Make recommendation to the Infrastructure Services Director for technological advances that would reduce overall budgetary cost and increase employee productivity.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing professional networks and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.
As technology systems evolve, duties, responsibilities and activities may change and new ones may be assigned at any time.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
