Position Purpose:
Performs a variety of customer service related work in mechanical, piping, and Cross Connection Control Systems.
The service work includes but is not limited to installation, repair and troubleshooting, and maintenance of customer equipment presently on Palmetto’s Water Distribution System.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Ability to perform soldering and to conduct service and repairs such as valve rebuilding, repacking and replacement, reading and interpreting mechanical prints, understanding principles and components of Cross Connection Control Devices.
To test, repair, replace and certify Cross Connection Control Devices.
Proficient understanding and use of all conventional tools and meters to maintain, repair, test and certify components found in the systems described above.
Prepare technical reports to accurately describe conditions and work performed.
Prepares appropriate service documentation for billing and completion of service orders.
Maintain and develop good customer relations while promoting the image of the company.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
Public Water Distribution or plumbing trade work preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Required to be trained or already trained as a Florida Certified Backflow Repair and Tester to perform related duties.
Required adhering to customer and facility rules and regulations.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
Requires no less than the following Florida certifications within 90 days: Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester and Backflow Assembly Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
Must also have a FL driver's license, and safe driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Required to lift and / or operate machinery, tools, etc.

Required to climb ladders and stairs.
Required to work in all weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
