Overview:
Perform tasks involving physical labor in every phase of construction, with an emphasis in roofing at residential and commercial construction projects.
Essential Duties:
Perform demolition, framing, roofing, drywall, painting, sealing, landscaping, and other construction tasks
Operate hand and power tools of all types
Clean and prepare job sites and clear work areas
Carry construction materials
Load and unload equipment
Erect and dismantle temporary safety barricades, walls, cones, tape, fences and other safety equipment
Clean up waste and debris
Dig trenches
Attend and participate in safety meetings; wear the proper personal protective equipment
Work as a team with other laborers, foreman, superintendents, project managers, and subcontractors
Report to work on times set by supervisors
Perform the duties above efficiently and effectively and in a workmanlike manner
Perform other labor-oriented tasks not otherwise stated above
Duties may also include: Homeowner notifications, traffic control
Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
Be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
Be able to work in confined/enclosed spaces for long periods of time
Be able to climb ladders and stairs frequently throughout the day
Be able to work from heights greater than 6 feet high for long periods of time and throughout the day
Be able to kneel, crouch, stoop, twist, reach, push, pull, and grasp frequently throughout the day
Be able to work more than 40 hours per week when needed
Strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds
Vision to read printed materials
Hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone
Be able to lift overhead at least 75 lbs
Possess the strength and mobility to work in a typical construction site setting
Stamina to perform sustained physical labor
Be able to work outside in all weather
Skills, Abilities and Education:
Good listening skills and ability to follow oral instructions
Ability to get along with others
Ability to communicate with foreman and supervisor
Basic construction and safety knowledge
High School or GED preferred
Prior construction experience helpful
